The Cottage has been awarded 3 diamonds by the Tourist Board, all the rooms and guests areas are completely NON SMOKING It is about a 10- minute walk north of York Minster, comprising of two refurbished and extended Victorian cottages overlooking the village green of Clifton. The hotel offers cosy, small bedrooms (all Non Smoking) with simple furnishings. Three rooms have four- poster beds. All en suite. Some 400-year-old timbers rescued from the demolition of a medieval building in one of the city's historic streets (Micklegate) grace the restaurant and bar. Since York now has a wealth of good eating establishments and food outlets, the hotel is currently providing b&b facilities. We have an early evening bar for residents. There is a small but limited car park (locked daily at 10pm). Instant check out. We do not take group bookings except week school parties. Please note that check-in is from 2pm to 9pm only (arrivals not accepted after 9pm).

The Dairy is a lovingly restored and upgraded Victorian town house, retaining its character and original features. Originally a family home and joinery business, the property was built in 1890. It was then purchased by the Trapp family and became a town dairy, selling milk, ice cream and Yorkshire curd. The Dairy was then sold and converted into a guest house in 1978. Situated in central York, we are just 300 yards south of the medieval city walls and an easy stroll to York's many attractions and museums. Each individually styled room has a colour television, CD/cassette player, hot drink facilities, hairdryer and alarm clock. In addition, the personal touches include toiletries and information folders. Some rooms also have ceiling fans.

Located in a quiet residential area, yet only 5 minutes walk from the historic bar walls, and 8 minutes walk from York Minster. Restaurants, bars and shopping, are all close at hand; we are in an ideal location for exploring York. We pride ourselves on offering a good service combined with value-for-money prices. Note: prices are generally (but not always!) cheaper from Sunday night to Thursday night. In addition, York's city centre and tourist attractions are less busy midweek. If your plans are flexible, why not come midweek, when you can stay a day longer and enjoy more of what our great city has to offer!

Outdoor activities: There is plenty to do within York itself. However, our location is less than one hour away from the Yorkshire Dales, the North York Moors, forest parks & coastlines - thus we make an ideal base for exploring. Health activities: We happily advise our guests about the wide range of facilities in the area. (We regret not having our own fitness facilities).
